Changing Seasons

OIY! We are one week into autumn and summer seems so long ago. One of my Alberta pet peeves is that the transition to winter happens oh so fast! Today’s high is supposed to 4C! Although we are told it is not the onset of winter weather, it is foreshadowing of things to come.  Some parts of southern Alberta are actually expecting snowfall of historic amounts, predictions as high as 60cm this weekend. I can’t EVEN!

Last weekend; Bill, Taylor and I went to Elk Island National Park and walked a 10km hike. Our plan was to do a quick 5km hike, but the day was amazing to say the least. 25C glorious degrees under sunny, calm skies. 20C difference in 5 days is crazy!

Well, with cooler days and dark night comes a bit more crafting time! Here are a few design team projects I have done recently!

This was a fun card I made for a Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Technique Taster using some of my favourite products: Art Impression stamps  & Chameleon Pens

This layout was created for the Quietfire Design Creative Blog using pictures from our trip to the Big Island! I love that little Fiddlehead stamp set!

A quick birthday card using Art Impression stamp and Chameleon Fineliner pens. More details can be found on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog!

My most recent project for the Quietfire Design blog is this fun Halloween card using the new Modern Gilding Powders from QFD *insert heart*

Tomorrow evening it is our turn to host our WINEDOWN. Bill and I have plan in mind that needs to unfold between now and 7pm tomorrow. I think we have it under control! Looking forward to a night with some great friends, great wines and good eats!

Until the next time! CHEERS!

Re-entering real life...

Well, it's August 23rd and I have successfully re-entered my life after two and a half weeks vacation in Nova Scotia. Lots of time was spent with family, friends and hanging out at our cottage. I just LOVE to get home to that Maritime air. We were also blessed with fabulous sunny, warm days...which has not been the case in Alberta this summer!

My favourite NS peeps ❤️ ~ note to self, when taking 'group selfies' with iPhone X...do not use portrait mode! I blurred my family out! 😂

I had a busy week on our return, and a very delayed flight home didn't help! That being said we got everything done that we had to! I had to quickly come up with a project for the Quietfire Creations Blog, as it was due on August 22nd. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it came together and I was pleased with the results.

I just LOVE this quote from Quietfire Design.

Coming home to my regular bed is always a good thing after being away. It's good for my body. My neck and shoulder continues to heal from disc and nerve damage and travel seems to take me several steps backward in the healing process.

Fortunately I came home to the latest issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine, it's the magazine form of Advil ~ LOLOL! Be sure to get your own copy, it's AWESOME! I look forward to all the inspiration and reading the article on creating more space!

If you are a paper crafter, you need this in your hands...just saying'!

Until the next, thanks for  checking in!

I thought I would quickly share a link to my first blog post for Quietfire Design, as part of their team! I’m excited to create more projects with Suzanne’s gorgeous stamps, dies and Silhouette cutfiles! This post went live on July 30, 2019. Sorry for the late share...I was in very unorganized packing mode that day!

I have very limited data, so this will be short! Blog link will take you to the full blog post where I share a step by step process of the techniques used for this project! It was SO FUN!

...the past two weeks

Life has been busy at the Gowdy house with work, renovations and creative deadlines! Life should resume a form of calm at the end of July!

I have had two projects up on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog that are so different but equally fun.

I shared a step by step process of this llama tag, which was so fun to create! I just LOVE that stamp from Impression Obsession!

We have entered the month of yellow in Alberta! I have been enjoying my sunflowers that my hubby brought home and planted and well as the canola fields that are starting to bloom!

Canola fields and stormy skies make my heart beat just a bit faster. I only wish I had more time this day to capture the beauty. We were driving home after a movie and needed to get some things ready for work the next day!

Where did Kim Go?

Hehe...good question! I dropped out of Blogger for a couple years for no other reason than I was on Instagram more, and honestly prefer the visual aspect of it.

That being said, I have recently joined the Quietfire Design creative team and felt this is a good landing place for sharing as well.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1lBnSZfXgKyTVhrzCfrlGaizOe-hy6RjYI continue to work with Creative Scrapbooker Magazine and LOVE, LOVE LOVE our team! They are my soft spot in life to land, combining shared interests and great friendships!

So let’s see if the second half of 2019 will be my Blogger year! As I looked back through my blog,I have “left” and come back several times [ahem]!

HAPPY SCRAPBOOKING DAY!

HAPPY SCRAPBOOKING DAY!

Who knew when I dabbled with card making in 2004 that I was on my way to a wonderful journey of meeting fabulous people, making the closest of friends and finding a passion for paper that I didn’t realize I had!

I should have known though…as a child I remember going to the little print shop across from my school and asking for paper scraps! I do remember how much joy they brought me! That my friends…was many moons ago! Fast forward to today...

I want to share the layout I created for CreativeScrapbooker Magazine’s National Scrapbooking Day event! I used papers from the “Adventure” collection from Wild Whisper Design! If you head over to the CSM blog, you can see more detail shots from the layout!

Just a quick share today of the layout I created using Creative Scrapbooker Magazine’s April Sketchy Challenge. Once again Kerry Engel designed a fun sketch to work with.

I had the opportunity to play along with my good friends and CSM team members to do a 3 designer / same product challenge. You can see their finished projects on the CSM blog.

Here is my completed layout using the Multicraft product provided and the April sketch.
